How Points Bank saved 76,000 KrisFlyer points

There are many opportunities to help our customers obtain an advantage they would otherwise have not been able to access if they were making a points-based booking directly with an airline.

One such opportunity arose when a regular Points Bank passenger asked us to plan a trip for 2 Business Class seats from Sydney to London and return in May 2018. The request was to utilise Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer points for all flights.

The cost for two one-way tickets Sydney-London via Singapore in Business Class was 210,000 points (+ A$192 for taxes).

The return flights originated in Paris and included a stopover of a few days in Singapore. The combined cost of these two flight legs was 286,000 points (+ €188/SGD$134 in taxes).

The total points required for this itinerary was 496,000 points.

After doing the research, the Points Bank consultant identified a smarter solution to simplify the itinerary that enabled us acquire the award seats at a lower total points redemption value. The new cost was 420,000 points – a saving of 76,000 points!

The passengers were extremely grateful and instructed us to use the ‘saved’ KrisFlyer points to book them a side trip to Langkawi for an even more exotic stopover before returning to Sydney.
